CE Toto Étoile en Pointe is a homebred filly by Glock’s Toto Jr out of CE So You Think You Can Dance, by So Unique out of a Londonderry mare. Combining the proven Grand Prix performance of Toto Jr with the exciting modern dressage blood of So Unique, Sezuan and Zack through her dam, Étoile has an exceptional pedigree for the sport. An elegant and exciting young filly, she brings together two particularly strong dressage families and is one we are very much looking forward to developing for the future.

CE Toto Étoile en Pointe, known at home as Betty, is by Glock’s Toto Jr out of CE So You Think You Can Dance, by So Unique out of a Londonderry mare. Her pedigree brings together proven international Grand Prix performance with some of the most successful young-horse bloodlines in modern dressage, making Betty a particularly exciting filly within our breeding programme.

Her sire, Glock’s Toto Jr, is by Totilas out of a Desperados FRH mare. Toto Jr enjoyed considerable success from the beginning of his career, winning the Pavo Cup as a young horse before progressing through the levels to international Grand Prix with Edward Gal. He went on to represent the Netherlands at championship level, demonstrating that the qualities he showed as a young horse translated successfully into the demands of Grand Prix.

Toto Jr’s sire, Totilas, was one of the most successful Grand Prix horses of his generation. With Edward Gal, he became World and European Champion, set multiple world records and had a significant influence on the direction of modern dressage breeding. His influence has continued through his offspring, with the Totilas line now firmly established within modern sport-horse pedigrees.

The maternal side of Toto Jr’s pedigree adds Desperados FRH, another exceptional international Grand Prix horse. With Kristina Bröring-Sprehe, Desperados achieved major championship success, including team gold and individual bronze at the Rio Olympic Games.

Toto Jr therefore combines championship Grand Prix performance through both Totilas and Desperados, while also having proven himself at international Grand Prix in his own right. For us, that depth of actual performance was particularly attractive when choosing him for Betty’s dam.

Betty’s dam, CE So You Think You Can Dance, brings another exciting branch of modern dressage breeding. She is by So Unique out of a Londonderry mare, combining some exceptional young-horse blood with an established Hanoverian maternal influence.

So Unique demonstrated outstanding quality from a very young age, becoming Bundeschampion as a three-year-old before going on to become World Champion for five-year-old dressage horses.

So Unique is by Sezuan, whose own young-horse record was exceptional. Sezuan became World Young Horse Champion at five, six and seven years old before going on to have considerable influence as a breeding stallion. Behind Sezuan sits Zack, who competed internationally at Grand Prix and represented Denmark at championship level.

Through her dam, Betty therefore carries the So Unique–Sezuan–Zack line, giving her successive generations of horses that have demonstrated considerable quality in performance as well as becoming influential within breeding.

There is further depth through Betty’s maternal granddam, who is by Londonderry. By the Thoroughbred stallion Lauries Crusador xx, Londonderry became an influential Hanoverian sire and introduces a valuable element of Thoroughbred blood into Betty’s otherwise strongly dressage-focused pedigree. Lauries Crusador xx became particularly important within Hanoverian breeding for the refinement, athleticism and quality he contributed to subsequent generations.

Betty therefore combines Glock’s Toto Jr, Totilas and Desperados through her sire with So Unique, Sezuan, Zack, Londonderry and Lauries Crusador xx through her dam. It is a pedigree containing championship Grand Prix performance, exceptional young-horse results and generations of influential dressage breeding.

What particularly interested us about this mating was the balance between the two sides. Toto Jr brings proven Grand Prix performance and some of the strongest championship blood immediately behind him, while CE So You Think You Can Dance contributes modern young-horse quality alongside the established Londonderry maternal line.

Betty is still at the very beginning of her journey, and there is no rush to determine what her future will look like. Our priority is to give her the time to mature naturally and eventually allow her own movement, temperament, trainability and ridden ability to determine the direction she takes.

As a filly from this combination, Betty is particularly exciting to us both as a future sport horse and as a possible mare for our breeding programme later in life. Ultimately, we want her to have the opportunity to prove herself as an individual first, before deciding whether she will eventually contribute to the next generation of our breeding programme.
