CE Fürst Unique Romance

CE Fürst Unique Romance, known at home as Louis, is by Fürst Romancier out of CE So You Think You Can Dance, by So Unique out of a Londonderry mare. His pedigree brings together established German dressage breeding with some of the most exciting modern young-horse bloodlines, giving him considerable depth on both sides.

His sire, Fürst Romancier, is by Florestan I out of a Romancier mare and has established an important reputation within dressage breeding. Successful himself as a young horse, he went on to become particularly influential through his offspring, producing numerous licensed stallions, premium mares and successful dressage horses.

Through Fürst Romancier, Louis carries the influence of Florestan I, one of the most significant dressage sires of his generation. Florestan was a Bundeschampion himself before becoming enormously influential as a breeding stallion, with his blood appearing throughout modern international dressage pedigrees. This gives Louis an established performance and breeding foundation through his sire rather than relying solely on more recent fashionable bloodlines.

Louis’s dam, CE So You Think You Can Dance, brings a particularly exciting modern influence through So Unique. So Unique demonstrated exceptional ability from a very young age, becoming Bundeschampion as a three-year-old and later World Champion for five-year-old dressage horses.

So Unique is by Sezuan, one of the outstanding young dressage horses of his generation. Sezuan achieved the remarkable feat of becoming World Young Horse Champion at five, six and seven years old before establishing a significant breeding career. Behind Sezuan sits Zack, who competed internationally at Grand Prix, represented Denmark at championship level and became an enormously influential sire.

Importantly, Louis’s maternal pedigree has further depth behind So Unique. His dam is out of a Londonderry mare, bringing another established Hanoverian dressage line into the pedigree. Londonderry, by Lauries Crusador xx, became an influential breeding stallion and is particularly interesting for the Thoroughbred influence introduced through his sire. This adds a different element to the more modern So Unique–Sezuan blood immediately in front of him.

Lauries Crusador xx became particularly important within Hanoverian breeding, where his Thoroughbred blood was used to contribute refinement, athleticism and quality while maintaining the characteristics required of the modern sport horse. Through Londonderry, this influence sits relatively close within Louis’s maternal pedigree.

Louis therefore combines the established Fürst Romancier–Florestan line through his sire with So Unique–Sezuan–Zack and Londonderry–Lauries Crusador xx through his dam. It is an interesting balance of modern dressage breeding, proven young-horse performance and more traditional Hanoverian blood.

Louis himself is a particularly laid-back and easy-going young horse with a lot of natural range. He looks set to mature into a big horse, and for that reason there is absolutely no rush with his development. He will be given plenty of time to grow into his frame, strengthen and mature physically before being asked to progress further with his education.

For us, his eventual size makes that patience particularly important. Rather than working towards milestones simply because he has reached a certain age, Louis will progress according to the horse in front of us, giving his body the time it needs to develop before increasing the demands placed upon him.

With his relaxed temperament, considerable range and the depth of dressage breeding on both sides of his pedigree, Louis is a very exciting horse for the future. We are looking forward to allowing him to develop at his own pace and eventually seeing how the qualities he shows as a youngster translate into his ridden career.
