CE Kristie

CE Kristie is a proven performance mare by Giovanni out of Black Magic MP, by Van The Man, combining strong dressage breeding with genuine ridden ability and an exceptionally interesting performance family. A very clever and incredibly personable mare, Kristie has always had a huge amount of character and presence, alongside the athleticism and trainability that allowed her to progress successfully in both dressage and eventing.

Before joining our breeding programme, Kristie was trained to Elementary level dressage and Novice level eventing. That ridden history is particularly valuable to us in a broodmare, as we know far more about Kristie than simply her pedigree and conformation. She has demonstrated her ability to learn, cope with training and progress through a ridden career across two disciplines.

There is also considerable performance depth within Kristie’s immediate maternal family. Her sibling Jaguar, by Fairytale, has progressed to Grand Prix dressage, providing particularly valuable evidence of the ability being produced directly from Kristie’s dam line.

The strength of the family continues through Kristie’s granddam, Silhouette, by Jazz. Silhouette is also the dam of the KWPN-approved stallion Hennessy, by De Niro. Hennessy won his KWPN performance test and subsequently progressed through the higher levels of dressage, adding another high-level performance horse to Kristie’s close maternal family.

Further back, the same direct family has also produced Ragtime, by Jazz, another horse to reach Grand Prix dressage. For us, this depth is particularly significant. Kristie does not simply have successful dressage stallions within her pedigree; she belongs to a maternal family that has repeatedly produced horses capable of reaching the higher levels of the sport.

Kristie’s sire, Giovanni, adds further dressage influence through his sire Chippendale, bringing another established performance line into an already strong maternal family. The resulting pedigree gives Kristie considerable dressage depth, while her own successful progression through eventing demonstrates the versatility and athleticism she possesses herself.

For us, however, one of Kristie’s most valuable qualities has always been her character. She is exceptionally clever, incredibly personable and very much a mare who interacts with the people around her. She has plenty of personality, but that intelligence has also been an asset throughout her ridden career. These are qualities we particularly hope to see passed on alongside movement, athleticism and sound conformation.

Kristie has already begun to establish her own branch of this family within our breeding programme. Her offspring include CE Graffiti K (Bambi), by Grafenstolz, an incredibly bold filly who has since been sold to a young rider. The combination brought together Kristie’s dressage breeding and proven versatility with the performance blood of Grafenstolz.

She is also the dam of CE So Sage K, by Jumbo. Tragically, we lost him at less than 24 hours old, but the quality we saw in him left us keen to repeat the combination, and Kristie is expecting a full sibling by Jumbo in 2027.

Kristie represents something we particularly value within our broodmare band: a mare whose ability and temperament have been tested through a genuine ridden career, backed by a maternal family with proven high-level performance. She herself trained to Elementary dressage and Novice eventing, her sibling Jaguar has reached Grand Prix, and her granddam Silhouette produced Hennessy by De Niro.

Combined with the Giovanni, Chippendale and Van The Man blood within her pedigree, this gives Kristie both individual performance and considerable depth behind her. Our aim is to build on those qualities in the generations we breed from her, producing horses with the ability for higher-level sport while retaining the intelligence, versatility and huge personality that have made Kristie such a memorable mare in her own right.
