CE Soleil Fontienne
YOUNGSTOCK | 2026
Filly | Chestnut | To make 16.2hh
CE Soleil Fontienne, known at home as Sunny, is a homebred filly by Sénégal de Fontaine out of Jolien MC, by Alexandro P out of a Zichem mare. A strong, well-made filly with great movement and a solid, dependable temperament, Sunny combines plenty of natural quality with the straightforward character we value so highly in our young horses. Bringing together the modern dressage blood of Sénégal de Fontaine with Jolien’s established Dutch and Gelderlander breeding, she is an exciting prospect for the future and one we are very much looking forward to developing.
CE Soleil Fontienne, known at home as Sunny, is by Sénégal de Fontaine out of Jolien MC, by Alexandro P out of a Zichem mare. Her pedigree brings together an exciting combination of modern international dressage performance through Sénégal with the established Dutch and Gelderlander blood behind Jolien. As an individual, Sunny is already developing into a strong, well-made filly with great movement and the solid, dependable temperament we particularly value.
Sunny’s sire, Sénégal de Fontaine, is by Springbank II VH out of the exceptional international Grand Prix mare Wendy de Fontaine. This makes his pedigree particularly exciting, with proven performance represented not simply several generations back, but directly through both sides of his parentage.
Springbank II VH brings an established performance pedigree through Skovens Rafael and De Niro. He has combined his own success in sport with a growing reputation as a breeding stallion, providing Sénégal with a strong paternal foundation.
It is Sénégal’s dam, Wendy de Fontaine, however, who makes his pedigree particularly special. By Sezuan out of Skovens Vanilla, by Soprano, Wendy demonstrated exceptional quality from the very beginning of her career. She was awarded a gold medal by Danish Warmblood and went on to win the Danish Young Horse Championship as a five-year-old before taking bronze at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses that same year.
Wendy subsequently progressed all the way to international Grand Prix. After beginning her Grand Prix career with Andreas Helgstrand, she went on to form an exceptional partnership with Isabell Werth, becoming one of the leading championship horses in international dressage.
At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Wendy and Werth helped Germany to team gold and took individual silver. They followed this with further championship success, winning team gold and two individual bronze medals at the 2025 European Championships. Wendy has continued competing at the highest level, demonstrating not only exceptional movement as a young horse but the ability, trainability and longevity required to progress all the way through to championship Grand Prix.
This is particularly significant to us when looking at Sénégal as a sire. He isn't simply descended from successful dressage horses — his dam herself has demonstrated the complete progression we ultimately hope to see in a sport horse, from an outstanding young horse through to an Olympic and championship Grand Prix performer.
Wendy’s sire, Sezuan, adds another exceptional performance line. Sezuan became World Young Horse Champion at five, six and seven years old, while his sire Zack progressed to international Grand Prix and represented Denmark at championship level. Through Wendy, Sunny therefore carries the Sezuan–Zack line directly behind an Olympic medal-winning mare.
There is further depth behind Wendy through her dam, Skovens Vanilla, by Soprano. This maternal family has produced additional successful sport horses, giving Wendy’s achievements a wider family context rather than her being an isolated high-level performer.
Sénégal de Fontaine therefore combines Springbank II VH, Skovens Rafael and De Niro through his sire with Wendy de Fontaine, Sezuan, Zack and Soprano through his dam. Sénégal himself also finished within the top five of the Danish Warmblood 35-day performance test, providing an encouraging early indication of his own qualities as a performance horse.
Sunny’s dam, Jolien MC, brings a different and more traditional branch of Dutch breeding. She is by Alexandro P out of a Zichem mare and has become an important mare within our breeding programme, producing several offspring from different stallion lines.
Alexandro P, by Koss out of a Satelliet mare, comes from traditional Gelderlander breeding but has established a significant reputation within dressage breeding. He was awarded the KWPN Preferent predicate, recognising the quality and achievements of his offspring.
Alexandro P progressed to Z level dressage himself, while his offspring have demonstrated his value as a sire. Among his best-known offspring is approved stallion Henkie, ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen, who represented the Netherlands at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses as a five-, six- and seven-year-old.
Behind Alexandro P sit Koss, Satelliet, Uriant and Hoogheid, providing further depth of traditional Dutch breeding, while Jolien’s dam by Zichem adds another generation to this established maternal family.
For us, this makes Sunny’s pedigree particularly interesting. Through Sénégal she carries very close-up modern international performance blood, most notably through his Olympic medal-winning dam Wendy de Fontaine, while Jolien provides an established and somewhat more traditional Dutch maternal foundation.
Sunny herself is already giving us plenty to be excited about. She is a strong, well-made filly with great movement and a particularly solid temperament. She has plenty of natural quality without being overly complicated, combining physical strength and movement with the straightforward character we value enormously.
Having bred several offspring from Jolien, it is particularly interesting to see what she produces from different stallions. Sunny introduces a very different sire family while continuing to demonstrate the strength, quality and temperament we have come to value within Jolien’s offspring.
She is still at the very beginning of her journey and will be given plenty of time to mature naturally. With the exceptional performance record immediately behind her sire, the established maternal family behind Jolien and the qualities Sunny is already showing herself, we are incredibly excited to see how she develops.
