CE Da Vinci’s Normandy Gold
Mare | Chestnut | 16.2hh
CE Da Vinci’s Normandy Gold, known at home as DD, is a second-generation homebred mare and full sister to CE Da Vinci’s Red Red Wine (Rummi), by CE Sir Fidermeyer out of CE Idonae. DD was backed and ridden away with us, enjoying plenty of pleasure rides before joining our breeding programme. She has always impressed us with her particularly good hindleg and natural ability to sit, qualities we are excited to see her pass on to her offspring. DD is now expecting her first foal in 2027 by the renowned Hesselhoej Donkey Boss, marking an exciting start to her career as a broodmare.
CE Da Vinci’s Normandy Gold, known at home as DD, is by our own CE Sir Fidermeyer out of CE Idonae. As a second-generation homebred mare and full sister to CE Da Vinci’s Red Red Wine (Rummi), she represents the continuation of two of the foundation lines within our breeding programme.
Her sire, CE Sir Fidermeyer, was by Sir Fidergold out of a Weltmeyer mare. Sir Fidergold was by Sarkozy out of a Fidermark mare, giving DD a strong foundation of established German dressage breeding. Through this side of her pedigree she carries the influence of Sarkozy, Sandro Hit, Fidermark and Weltmeyer, bringing together generations of horses selected for dressage performance, movement and athletic ability.
DD’s dam, CE Idonae, adds a particularly strong Dutch performance influence. She is by UB40 out of a Junior STV mare. UB40, by Olivi out of a Michelangelo mare, became an influential dressage sire and is perhaps best known as the sire of Apache, who competed internationally at Grand Prix with Emmelie Scholtens and represented the Netherlands at the 2018 World Equestrian Games. Apache subsequently established an important breeding legacy of his own, with numerous offspring reaching international level.
The influence of Junior STV adds further proven performance to DD’s maternal line. By Uniform out of Ennia STV, by Variant, Junior STV won the inaugural Pavo Cup for four-year-olds in 1995 before returning to win again the following year with Anky van Grunsven. He subsequently progressed to international Grand Prix dressage with Van Grunsven, giving DD’s maternal pedigree a particularly valuable combination of successful young horse performance and proven ability at the highest level.
Junior STV’s sire, Uniform, provides another generation of established Dutch dressage breeding. He was awarded the KWPN Preferent predicate, with his value as a sire demonstrated through offspring that progressed to Prix St Georges and Grand Prix level.
DD’s pedigree therefore combines the German blood of Sir Fidergold, Sarkozy, Fidermark and Weltmeyer with the Dutch influence of UB40, Junior STV and Uniform. In DD herself, we particularly value her active, powerful hindleg and natural ability to sit and carry weight behind — qualities that made her an exciting prospect under saddle and that we now hope she will pass on through her offspring.
Having been backed, ridden away and given time to develop through plenty of pleasure riding, DD has now joined our broodmare band. She is expecting her first foal in 2027 by Hesselhoej Donkey Boss, a mating we are particularly excited about and the beginning of the next generation of this homebred mare line.
