CE Da Vinci’s Red Red Wine is one of our first second-generation homebred broodmares, by CE Sir Fidermeyer out of CE Idonae. She was backed and competed successfully at Prelim level before moving into our breeding programme early in her career. She has since produced three foals for us, all of exceptional quality.

CE Toreador by Secret Secret, was the highest graded AES foal of 2025, while CE Ecstasy of Gold went on to achieve a High Premium grading in 2026, with overall results not yet confirmed.

With the quality of her offspring proving remarkably consistent, Red Red Wine has quickly established herself as an incredibly exciting and important mare for the future of our breeding programme.

CE Da Vinci’s Red Red Wine, known at home as Rummi, represents an important step forward in our breeding programme as one of our first second-generation homebred broodmares. She is by our own CE Sir Fidermeyer out of CE Idonae, bringing together established German and Dutch dressage bloodlines that we deliberately selected in the earlier generations of the stud.

Her sire, CE Sir Fidermeyer, was by Sir Fidergold out of a Weltmeyer mare. Sir Fidergold was by Sarkozy out of a Fidermark mare, giving Rummi a paternal pedigree rich in proven German dressage breeding. Through these lines she carries the influence of Sarkozy, Fidermark, Weltmeyer and Sandro Hit, combining generations of breeding selected for movement, athleticism and dressage performance.

Rummi’s dam, CE Idonae, brings an equally interesting Dutch influence. She is by UB40 out of a Junior STV mare. UB40, by Olivi out of a Michelangelo mare, became particularly influential through his offspring and is perhaps best known as the sire of international Grand Prix stallion Apache. Apache competed successfully at the highest level with Emmelie Scholtens, including representing the Netherlands at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, before establishing an important breeding legacy of his own through numerous successful international dressage horses.

The influence of Junior STV adds considerable performance depth to Idonae’s maternal line. Junior STV was a KWPN-approved stallion by Uniform out of Ennia STV, by Variant. As a young horse, he won the inaugural Pavo Cup for four-year-olds in 1995 and returned to win again the following year with Anky van Grunsven. He subsequently progressed all the way to international Grand Prix dressage with Van Grunsven, giving this part of Rummi’s pedigree proven performance from young horse classes through to the highest level of the sport.

Junior STV’s sire, Uniform, adds another generation of established Dutch performance breeding. Uniform became an important dressage sire and was ultimately awarded the KWPN Preferent predicate, with his influence demonstrated through offspring progressing to Prix St Georges and Grand Prix level.

Rummi’s pedigree therefore brings together the German influence of Sir Fidergold, Sarkozy, Fidermark and Weltmeyer with the Dutch performance blood of UB40, Junior STV and Uniform. It gives her a pedigree rich in proven dressage performance, with successful horses appearing throughout multiple generations on both sides.

What makes Rummi particularly exciting to us now, however, is the quality and consistency she is beginning to demonstrate as a broodmare. She has produced three foals to date, all of which have been of exceptional quality. CE Toreador, by Secret Secret, was the highest graded AES foal of 2025, while CE Ecstasy of Gold, by Morricone III, achieved a High Premium grading in 2026. Producing such highly regarded offspring from different stallions is particularly exciting and gives us great confidence in Rummi’s ability to consistently pass on quality.

As one of our first second-generation broodmares, Rummi represents exactly what we hoped to achieve as our breeding programme developed — not simply retaining our own bloodlines, but seeing those generations begin to prove themselves through the quality of the horses they produce. She is becoming an increasingly important mare within our programme, and we are incredibly excited to see what the future holds for both Rummi and her offspring.
