CE Graffiti K, known at home as Bambi, is a homebred filly by the exceptional eventing stallion Grafenstolz out of Kristie, who was successfully trained and competed to Novice level eventing. Bambi has always had an incredibly bold personality, approaching life with confidence and enthusiasm. Bred with athleticism and versatility in mind, she has since been sold to a young rider, and we are delighted to see her continuing her journey with them. We look forward to following their partnership and seeing what they achieve together.
CE Graffiti K, known at home as Bambi, is by the exceptional Trakehner stallion Grafenstolz TSF out of Kristie, by Giovanni. Her pedigree is an interesting combination of proven eventing performance through Grafenstolz with a predominantly dressage-bred maternal line, while Kristie herself was successfully trained and competed to Novice level eventing.
Grafenstolz brings an exceptional record as both a performance horse and eventing sire. He demonstrated considerable ability across all three disciplines as a young horse, becoming German Bundeschampion and World Champion for Young Event Horses before progressing successfully through upper-level eventing. He has subsequently become one of the most influential eventing sires of his generation, producing horses successful at championship and five-star level.
Bambi's dam, Kristie, adds a particularly interesting performance element to the combination. Although bred from established Dutch dressage lines, Kristie herself was successfully trained and competed to Novice level eventing, demonstrating the versatility that we hoped to retain when crossing her with Grafenstolz.
Kristie's sire, Giovanni, is by Chippendale out of a Scandic mare and comes from a particularly strong Dutch dressage family. Giovanni won his KWPN performance test with an impressive 86 points, receiving a 9.5 for his canter and a 9 for self-carriage and rideability. He went on to finish fifth at the World Young Horse Championships as a seven-year-old and was later trained to Grand Prix level.
Giovanni's sire, Chippendale, is by Lord Leatherdale out of a Negro mare, combining two enormously influential lines in modern Dutch dressage breeding. Chippendale was himself trained to Grand Prix and became an established sire of successful dressage horses. Through Negro, this branch of the pedigree also brings in Ferro, giving Bambi further generations of proven international dressage performance.
Kristie's dam, Black Magic MP, is by Van the Man out of a Jazz mare. This adds another established Dutch dressage influence through Jazz, a Grand Prix performer who became one of the most significant sires in modern dressage breeding. The maternal pedigree therefore gives Bambi considerable depth of dressage breeding alongside Kristie's own demonstrated ability as an event horse.
The decision to use Grafenstolz on Kristie brought a proven international eventing sire to a mare who had already demonstrated her own ability across the three phases, while retaining the movement, balance and rideability represented within her dressage pedigree. The resulting combination gives Bambi an interesting mixture of eventing performance, dressage quality, athleticism and versatility.
One of Bambi's most noticeable qualities from an early age has been her incredibly bold personality. She has always approached new experiences with confidence and enthusiasm, something we particularly value in a horse bred with eventing in mind.
Bambi has now been sold to a young rider, and we are delighted to see her continuing her journey with them. We look forward to following their partnership and seeing how the combination of boldness, athleticism and versatility within her breeding translates into her ridden career.
